Bungo Stray Dogs, often shortened to BSD, is a Japanese manga created by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa. It has been serialized in Young Ace since 2012. The series features characters inspired by notable literary figures from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with abilities that reflect the works of those authors.
The story centers on the Armed Detective Agency and their efforts to defend Yokohama from rival groups like the Port Mafia. At its core is Atsushi Nakajima, a weretiger who becomes part of a team of individuals with supernatural powers, taking on various assignments ranging from mystery-solving to dangerous missions.
By 2025, the franchise expanded to include ten light novels. An anime adaptation by Bones debuted in 2016, split into two cours airing from April to June and October to December. The film Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple premiered in March 2018, followed by a third season in 2019. The fourth season aired from January to March 2023, with the fifth season running from July to September the same year.
Additionally, the spin-off anime Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! aired between January and March 2021, and a second season is scheduled to premiere in July 2026.
