The Promised Neverland New One-Shot Manga Confirmed For Summer 2026

The Promised Neverland has revealed a brand-new one-shot manga chapter set for release in Summer 2026 as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.

The one-shot is among the five major projects announced to mark the milestone anniversary. The other initiatives include a full-scale stage musical, a full-color digital edition of the manga, a pop-up store, and a new online lottery scheduled for July.

The Promised Neverland is a Japanese manga series created by writer Kaiu Shirai and illustrator Posuka Demizu. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine from August 2016 to June 2020, later compiled into 20 tankōbon volumes. In North America, Viz Media licensed the series for English release and published it digitally through their Weekly Shonen Jump platform.

The story centers on a group of orphaned children who devise a daring escape plan from their seemingly idyllic orphanage after discovering the horrifying truth about their existence and the real purpose of the facility.

The manga was adapted into an anime television series by studio CloverWorks, which aired on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block. The first season consisted of 12 episodes and ran from January to March 2019. A second season with 11 episodes followed from January to March 2021. In December 2020, a live-action film adaptation was released in Japan. Amazon Studios is currently developing an American live-action television series based on the story. Additionally, a musical stage play adaptation is scheduled to premiere in Q4 2026.

In 2018, The Promised Neverland won the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category. By August 2023, the series had surpassed 42 million copies in circulation (including digital editions), cementing its place among the best-selling manga of all time. The manga has been widely praised by critics for its gripping storytelling, memorable characters, and intricate world-building. The first season of the anime was also highly acclaimed and is often regarded as one of the standout anime series of the 2010s. However, the second season received largely negative feedback, with most criticism focusing on its rushed pacing and significant simplifications of the original manga’s plot.
