Fairy Tail manga‘s famous creator Hiro Mashima recently unveiled on his official X account that Fairy Tail manga miniseries will launch a week earlier than previously announced.
The miniseries will kick off in this year’s 35th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine, hitting shelves on July 29.
Fairy Tail is a Japanese manga created and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017, with its chapters later compiled into 63 tankōbon volumes. The story centers on Natsu Dragneel, a young wizard and member of the renowned Fairy Tail guild, as he travels across the fictional world of Earth-land in search of the dragon Igneel.
The manga was adapted into an anime television series produced by A-1 Pictures, Dentsu Inc., Satelight, Bridge, and CloverWorks. It originally aired on TV Tokyo from October 2009 to March 2013, followed by a second season from April 2014 to March 2016, and a third and final season from October 2018 to September 2019. The franchise has also spawned several spin-off manga, such as the prequel Fairy Tail Zero written by Mashima, and the sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which was storyboarded by him.
In North America, the manga was initially licensed by Del Rey Manga, which released the first 12 volumes between March 2008 and September 2010. Kodansha USA assumed publishing rights in December 2010 and continued the English release. The series was also licensed in the United Kingdom by Turnaround Publisher Services and in Australia by Penguin Books Australia.
As of February 2020, the Fairy Tail manga had sold over 72 million copies worldwide, establishing it as one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
