The anime adaptation of The Dangers in My Heart (also known as Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu or BokuYaba) has officially been greenlit for a third season, set to premiere in 2027.
To celebrate the announcement, the series’ character designer Masato Katsumata unveiled a special commemorative illustration featuring the beloved leads.
At this time, no further details about the production staff, director, or other key team members for Season 3 have been revealed. The previous seasons were produced by Shin-Ei Animation under director Hiroaki Akagi, so fans are eagerly awaiting updates on whether the core team will return.
The Dangers in My Heart, often shortened to BokuYaba, is a Japanese web manga created by writer and artist Norio Sakurai. It has been published serially on the Champion Cross [ja] website, with its collected chapters compiled into 13 tankōbon volumes so far (with the series set to conclude in the upcoming 14th and final volume). The manga received an anime adaptation by Shin-Ei Animation, with its first season broadcasting from April to June 2023. Later, a brief spin-off original net animation (ONA) was made available in December 2023, followed by a second anime season that ran from January to March 2024.
Although it started with somewhat divided opinions, The Dangers in My Heart has since earned broad praise from critics and fans alike, particularly for its sharp writing, well-developed characters, touching emotional layers, and distinctive artwork.
The story centers on Kyotaro Ichikawa, a gloomy and isolated middle school student with a dark hobby: he spends his time poring over a murder encyclopedia and studying human anatomy. In his mind, he frequently imagines eliminating his more popular peers, with the stunning and idolized classmate Anna Yamada as his main fixation. Yet everything shifts when he notices Anna‘s own eccentric and offbeat personality. As she unexpectedly starts showing him kindness and growing closer to him, Kyotaro‘s cold outlook begins to thaw. Over time, the two form a genuine bond that blossoms into mutual affection and love.
