KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Season 4 has been officially confirmed for the TV anime series.
The plans for a new sequel were initially revealed back on March 14, 2025, following the release of the BONUS STAGE OVA episodes.
Today’s exciting announcement came as part of a special broadcast celebrating the anime’s 10th anniversary.
KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, commonly known as KonoSuba, is a popular Japanese light novel series authored by Natsume Akatsuki with illustrations by Kurone Mishima. The story centers on Kazuma Satou, a young man who dies and gets transported to a fantasy realm featuring MMORPG-style mechanics. There, he teams up with a chaotic adventuring group consisting of a useless goddess, an explosion-obsessed archmage, and a masochistic crusader.
Akatsuki crafted the series to playfully subvert common fantasy and isekai clichés. It first appeared as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform from December 2012 to October 2013. Kadokawa Shoten later released it as a printed light novel under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label between October 2013 and May 2020, with the published version featuring notable plot differences from the original web serialization.
A manga version, drawn by Masahito Watari, started running in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age in October 2014. In March 2015, HobiRecords put out a radio drama CD. Studio Deen produced the anime adaptation, which broadcast in Japan from January to March 2016 for its first season, followed by a second season from January to March 2017. A spin-off light novel series titled KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! ran from July 2014 to June 2015. Yen Press holds the North American licensing rights for both the main light novels and the manga.
J.C.Staff handled the 2019 anime movie, KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson, which hit theaters on August 30, 2019. The spin-off received its own anime adaptation by Drive, airing from April to June 2023. Season 3 of the main series, also animated by Drive, ran from April to June 2024. A sequel anime project has since been confirmed, with recent announcements (as of early 2026) specifying it as Season 4.
As of November 2021, the light novel series had surpassed 10 million copies in circulation. It has earned widespread acclaim from both audiences and reviewers, earning various awards for the novels and anime alike. Fans and critics especially love its sharp comedy and excellent voice performances, though opinions on the animation quality are divided—some see it as perfectly suiting the comedic tone, while others find it inconsistent. The characters remain hugely popular, with Megumin frequently topping polls and winning awards in multiple categories.
