On Thursday, Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster manga service revealed that the manga adaptation of Mugi Mameta’s light novel Dinners with My Darling: How the Former Monster King Ate Her Way to Happiness, illustrated by Toi Ishino, is now in production for an anime.
Dinners with My Darling: How the Former Monster King Ate Her Way to Happiness is a Japanese light novel series written by Mugi Mameta and illustrated by Nagisa Hanazome. It was first serialized on the popular user-generated novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō from April 2022 to October 2023. Futabasha later acquired the series and began releasing print volumes under its M Novels f imprint in October 2022. A manga adaptation with illustrations by Toi Ishino started serialization on Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster website in January 2023.
The story follows Abigail, who becomes anxious after her groom, Gerald, tells her he will never love her. Having endured years of neglect from her noble family due to her identity as the reincarnation of the former demon lord, Abigail had hoped her marriage would at least guarantee her a steady supply of food. Gerald’s cold declaration leaves her deeply unsettled.
