Fans of One Piece have reason to celebrate today as WIT Studio has unveiled a new teaser for its highly anticipated remake of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary series.
Titled THE ONE PIECE, the project offers a modern reimagining that blends familiar adventures with cutting-edge animation techniques.
The latest teaser doesn’t feature full animation sequences yet. Instead, it provides an intriguing behind-the-scenes look at the production process through rare character design sheets and image boards. These glimpses reveal early concepts for key figures from the East Blue saga, including the original Straw Hat crew—Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji—along with supporting characters like Shanks.
This remake, produced in collaboration with Netflix, was first announced back in 2023 with an initial teaser focused on the “Romance Dawn” arc. Additional updates followed in 2024, including reveals of the main staff and concept art. The series aims to retell the story starting from the East Blue saga, separate from Toei Animation’s series that has spanned over 25 years and 1,000+ episodes.
According to the project’s description, THE ONE PIECE leverages contemporary technology to deliver a vibrant, refreshed take on Luffy’s journey while staying true to the spirit of the original manga. The teaser highlights how these design sheets and image boards help shape the world-building and visual style of this new adaptation.
The announcement arrives alongside other One Piece updates from Netflix on the same day, including confirmation that the live-action series Season 3 will adapt “The Battle of Alabasta” and arrive in 2027, plus a two-part LEGO One Piece animated special set to stream on September 29.

ONE PIECE is a Japanese manga series created by Eiichiro Oda, chronicling the epic journey of Monkey D. Luffy, a spirited young pirate with the power of rubber, as he sails the seas with his crew—the Straw Hat Pirates. Their mission: to find the legendary treasure known as the “One Piece” and crown Luffy as the next Pirate King.
The series has been continuously published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 1997. As of March 2025, it spans 111 collected tankōbon volumes. In the English-speaking world, Viz Media handles the North American and UK releases, while Madman Entertainment distributes the series in Australia.
One Piece has evolved into a massive multimedia franchise. It was first animated in a festival short by Production I.G before being adapted into an ongoing anime series by Toei Animation, which premiered in 1999. Toei has also produced 14 feature-length animated films and a standalone OVA. The franchise has expanded to include a wide range of merchandise, including video games and a trading card game. In 2023, Netflix launched a live-action television adaptation, bringing the world of One Piece to a new generation of fans.
