Plot Summary

In mid-21st-century Tokyo, the criminal underworld is ruled by powerful Demon Lords — gang leaders who have obtained immense strength through ether enhancement and the forbidden Demon King Transformation Surgery. To oppose these threats, the government officially recognizes “Heroes”: bounty hunters who boost their own ether powers using the drug E3 and are granted legal authority to kill.

The story centers on Yashiro, a solitary Hero nicknamed the Reaper. He lives a reckless, aimless life and strongly prefers working alone. His routine is shattered when Jōgamine, a strong-willed high school girl, forcefully declares herself his apprentice and forces her way into his operations. Before long, other determined high school students aspiring to become Heroes approach him as well. Yashiro reluctantly agrees to train them — but only in exchange for money.

As he grows increasingly involved with his unlikely students, Yashiro finds himself pulled deeper into violent clashes with Demon Lords, rival Heroes, and powerful criminal syndicates, thrusting him into the heart of ever more dangerous and chaotic battles across Tokyo’s underworld.
