Kunon the Sorcerer Can See is a Japanese light novel series penned by Umikaze Minamino, with illustrations crafted by Laruha. The story first appeared online in August 2021 on the user-generated platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. In March 2022, Fujimi Shobo picked up the series for print publication under its Kadokawa Books label.
A manga adaptation, illustrated by La-na, launched in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive seinen magazine in April 2022. An anime television series produced by Platinum Vision began airing in January 2026.
The narrative follows Kunon Gurion, a young man born completely blind, who harbors an ambitious dream: to master water magic so perfectly that he can conjure entirely new eyes for himself—a miraculous achievement no one has ever accomplished. Despite his visual impairment, Kunon reveals astonishing natural talent. Incredibly, he outstrips his own teacher after only five months of training.
Through relentless practice and innovation, Kunon not only learns to perceive colors via his magic, but also creates useful everyday objects and even summons living beings. Word of his extraordinary abilities eventually reaches the royal court, earning him the rare privilege of training under the kingdom’s most formidable sorcerer.
As Kunon deepens his mastery of water magic and continues breaking new ground, he draws steadily closer to realizing what many consider an impossible ambition.
