Monster Eater anime‘s official website has just unveiled the teaser trailer for the up and coming anime which is set to go live on April 2026.

Hikaru Sato serves as the director for this anime adaptation. Kazuya Takahashi handles the production supervision role, while nanogram.inc contributes production assistance. The animation work is being managed by IMAGICA Infos in collaboration with Imageworks Studio.
Monster Eater is a Japanese light novel series penned by Renkinō, with artwork by Kawaku. The story first appeared online in March 2023 on the user-submitted novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was subsequently picked up by Earth Star Entertainment, which released two volumes under their Earth Star Novel label from August 2023 to January 2024.
The series has spawned multiple adaptations. A webtoon version, illustrated by Kei Ichimatsu and Tanako Tanao and produced by whomor, has been running on Line Corporation’s Line Manga platform since June 2024, with two digital volumes compiled so far. Separately, a manga adaptation drawn by TATE began serialization on Square Enix’s Manga Up! website in August 2024 and has been collected into two tankōbon volumes.
A television “light anime” adaptation, produced by Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio, is scheduled to debut in April 2026.
The storyline centers on Rude (also referred to as Rudd in some translations), an adventurer with minimal fighting background and only one notable ability: Status Abnormality Nullification. Mocked by fellow adventurers, he sustains himself by collecting medicinal herbs in dungeons shrouded in dangerous miasma. Determined to prove his worth and alter his reputation, he ventures into an uncharted labyrinth. There, his companion betrays him, leading to the collapse of the dungeon and leaving him trapped without provisions. Facing starvation, Rude resorts to consuming monster flesh—a strict taboo in this world. To his surprise, each meal enhances his strength and unlocks new skills, transforming his fortunes in unexpected ways.
