Medalist Anime Is Getting An Anime Film In 2027

Kadokawa revealed recently that Tsurumaikada‘s Olympic figure-skating manga Medalist will receive an anime film, scheduled to premiere in 2027. The movie will present a storyline that takes place following the events of the television anime’s second season.

The announcement was made during a special screening event on Saturday, where the first two episodes of the second season were shown to attendees.

The franchise unveiled a key visual for the 2nd season as well.

Medalist season 2 anime will go live on January 24, 2026.

Medalist is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada. The series has been running in Kodansha’s seinen magazine Monthly Afternoon since May 2020, with its collected chapters released in thirteen tankōbon volumes as of June 2025. In North America, the English-language edition is published by Kodansha USA.

The manga received an anime television adaptation produced by ENGI, which broadcast from January to March 2025. A second season is scheduled to begin airing in January 2026, while an anime feature film is planned for theatrical release in Japan in 2027.

Medalist has earned significant recognition, including the Next Manga Award in the print category in 2022, the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category in 2023, and the 48th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in 2024.
