The Quintessential Quintuplets franchise confirmed recently that a new anime that will adapt the The Quintessential Quintuplets: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter light novel has been announced, along with an additional original OVA installment.
The news was revealed on May 2, 2026, at the The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. Written by Hajime Asano with full oversight from original creator Negi Haruba, the novel continues the narrative beyond the original series. It is recognized as an official extension of the story’s canon and is also slated for a manga version.

The Quintessential Quintuplets is a Japanese manga created by Negi Haruba, who both wrote and illustrated the series. It ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2017 through February 2020, and its chapters were later compiled into 14 tankōbon volumes. The story centers on high school student Futaro Uesugi, who takes on a job as a private tutor for five identical sisters—Ichika Nakano, Nino Nakano, Miku Nakano, Yotsuba Nakano, and Itsuki Nakano. From the outset, the narrative is framed as a flashback, revealing that an older Futaro is preparing to marry one of the quintuplets, though her identity remains a mystery until near the conclusion.
In English-speaking regions, the manga is released by Kodansha USA under the Kodansha Comics label. The anime adaptation began with a television series produced by Tezuka Productions, which aired from January to March 2019 on Tokyo Broadcasting System and other channels. A second season, handled by Bibury Animation Studios, followed from January to March 2021. This continuation led into the feature film The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie, released in May 2022. Later, an anime special produced by Shaft premiered in September 2023, with another special from Bibury Animation Studios debuting in December 2024.
By December 2022, the series had achieved major commercial success, surpassing 20 million copies in circulation. It also earned recognition in 2019 by winning the shōnen category at the 43rd Kodansha Manga Awards.
