NIPPON SANGAKU has been officially confirmed to receive a TV anime adaptation produced by studio Kafka, with its broadcast scheduled for Spring 2026.
Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and promotional trailer were unveiled, as well as details regarding the core production staff and principal voice cast.

Nippon Sangoku is a Japanese manga series created by Ikka Matsuki, who both writes and illustrates the work. The series began its run in November 2021 through Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday platform and the MangaONE app. An anime television adaptation by Studio Kafka has been announced and is scheduled to debut in April 2026.
Story Overview:
As the Reiwa era draws to a close, Japan suffers catastrophic fallout from nuclear conflicts erupting across the globe. Waves of refugees pour into the country, only to be followed by a lethal virus and a massive earthquake. With the nation poorly governed, authorities impose crushing taxes, triggering widespread famine. Public anger eventually explodes into a full-scale uprising that topples the central government. By the end of the chaos, Japan’s population has dwindled to just one-tenth of its former size, technological progress has regressed to Meiji-era levels, and the land fractures into three rival states: Yamato, Takeo, and Seii. A century later, a man named Aoteru Misumi rises to lead an effort aimed at restoring unity to the divided nation.
