The anime series Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus will see its finale with a new film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend, set to premiere in 2026.
This concluding movie will adapt the final volume of the light novel series by Hajime Kamoshida, bringing the beloved story to its close.

Seishun Buta Yarō, also known as Rascal Does Not Dream in English, is a Japanese light novel series penned by Hajime Kamoshida with illustrations by Kēji Mizoguchi. Published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko label, the series spans sixteen volumes, released between April 2014 and July 2025. A manga adaptation, featuring artwork by various illustrators, has been running in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki G’s Comic, a seinen manga magazine, since December 2015.
The series was adapted into an anime television show by CloverWorks, titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, which aired from October to December 2018. This was followed by an anime film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, which hit theaters in June 2019. A second film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, debuted in June 2023, and a third, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid, premiered in December 2023. A second anime television series, Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, was broadcast from July to September 2025.
