Samurai Saga: Yaiba Reborn is a Japanese manga crafted by writer and artist Gosho Aoyama. It ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday, a prominent shōnen manga magazine, from September 1988 to December 1993. The series’ chapters were compiled into 24 tankōbon volumes, and Viz Media has secured the license for its English publication in North America.

The tale centers on Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai raised in the wild by his father, a master swordsman. When Yaiba ventures into Japan’s bustling urban world, he crosses blades with a formidable rival, Takeshi Onimaru. Their duel ends in a deadlock, leaving Onimaru humiliated. Driven by pride, Onimaru discovers a cursed katana that twists him into a malevolent force, hell-bent on world domination with a demonic army. Yaiba, alongside loyal companions, embarks on a perilous journey to thwart the corrupted Onimaru, encountering legendary figures from Japanese folklore and history along the way.

The manga inspired a 52-episode anime adaptation by Pastel, which aired on TV Tokyo and Television Hokkaido between April 1993 and April 1994. A fresh anime adaptation by Wit Studio debuted in April 2025, reintroducing Yaiba’s epic saga to a new generation.
