Living in a One-Tatami Room! anime‘s official website unveiled the teaser trailer for the upcoming anime that confirms April 2026 release date.
Ichijōma Mankitsu Gurashi! is a Japanese four-panel comedy manga created by author and artist Kumako Hisama. The series started running in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara magazine back in December 2018 and has been collected into four tankōbon volumes so far, as of July 2025. A television anime adaptation, produced by the studio PRA [ja], is scheduled to begin airing in April 2026.
The story centers on Meiko Morita, a high school student hailing from rural Japan. Drawn by a tempting scholarship that covers living expenses, she transfers to the prestigious all-girls Amamiya Girls Academy in Tokyo. Upon arrival, however, she learns that the promised dormitory is actually a manga café called “Hedgehog.” To cover her tuition and stay enrolled, Meiko takes on a job at the café, where she forms friendships with its colorful residents and staff while adjusting to this unexpected urban life.
