Iron Wok Jan anime will go live on 2026.

“Iron Wok Jan” is a Japanese manga created and drawn by Shinji Saijyo. It received an English-language license from ComicsOne, which was later reassigned to DrMaster. A follow-up series, “Iron Wok Jan! R: The Summit Operations,” came out in Japan through Akita Shoten and in France via Soleil Manga. Additionally, a side story titled “Tetsupai no Jan!”—penned by Bingo Morihashi—ran in Takeshobo publications between August 2015 and December 2017.

The storyline of the series unfolds like this: Late one evening, once the upscale Chinese restaurant in Tokyo’s Ginza district has shut down for the night, a young boy steps inside and requests a serving of fried rice. Upon tasting the dish brought to him, he deems it subpar, discards it without hesitation, and strides straight into the kitchen to prepare his own version of fried rice. This bold newcomer is Jan Akiyama, grandson of the renowned Kaiichiro Akiyama, celebrated as the “master of Chinese cuisine.” In time, Jan—who views the art of cooking as a fierce competition—joins the restaurant’s team, collaborating (and often clashing) with fellow chefs such as Kiriko.
