A New Dawn Anime Film’s Official Trailer Goes Live

The highly anticipated anime feature A New Dawn has unveiled its main trailer, offering an even deeper glimpse into its richly intricate and captivating animation aesthetic. The new footage is accompanied by the film’s theme song, “Aoba,” specially created and performed by singer-songwriter imase.

This original work, marking the feature directorial debut of Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on March 6, 2026, following its selection for the Competition section at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.

This French-Japanese collaborative animated feature marks the first-time direction of a full-length film by Yoshitoshi Shinomiya. He previously contributed his talents to several notable projects, including serving as poster illustrator for Makoto Shinkai’s The Garden of Words, key animator for recollection scenes and unit director on Your Name, watercolor painter (among other roles) for Sunao Katabuchi’s In This Corner of the World, and art board artist on Takayuki Hirao’s Pompo the Cinephile. Shinomiya has also created short works such as Tokino Kousa and directed the music video for Chiaki Mayumura’s track “Boukentai ~Heroes of the old forest~.”

A New Dawn was featured in the Annecy Animation Showcase during the 77th Cannes Film Festival in 2024. It has now been officially selected as one of the films competing in the main Competition section at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.
