Weathering With You film bounced again from #3 to #2 in its fifth end of the week. The film sold 384,000 tickets throughout the end of the week and earned 532,718,500 yen (about US$5 million) from Friday to Sunday. The film has so far sold 7.17 million tickets for 9,649,049,500 yen (about US$90.5 million) since opening.
The Weathering With You film opened in 359 theaters and 448 screens in Japan on July 19.
The film sold 1,159,020 tickets for 1,643,809,400 yen (about US$15.22 million) in its initial three days in 358 theaters. The film positioned #1 in its opening end of the week.
”The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. One Piece Stampede anime film dropped from #1 to #3 in its second end of the week. The film sold 323,000 tickets throughout the end of the week, and earned 448,572,900 (about US$4.21 million) from Friday to Sunday. The film has earned a combined aggregate of 3,280,449,100 yen (about US$30.7 million).
It is the quickest Toei-dispersed film to arrive at the three-billion-yen achievement since 2000.
The new film sold 1,254,372 tickets for 1,646,321,500 yen (about US$15.64 million) in its initial four days in Japan. The film earned 8.4% more and sold 15.3% a bigger number of tickets over its initial four days than One Piece Film Gold, the past establishment film. It sold 356,052 tickets on 429 screens in 352 auditoriums just on its opening day, the biggest first-day participation record at the Japanese film industry so far in 2019.
