Trigun is a Japanese manga series composed and showed by Yasuhiro Nightow. The series was serialized in Tokuma Shotenโ€™s shลnen manga magazine Monthly Shลnen Captain from April 1995 to January 1997, when the magazine stopped its distribution, and its chapters were gathered in three tankลbon volumes. The series proceeded with its distribution in Shลnen Gahoshaโ€™s seinen manga magazine Young King OURs, under the title Trigun Maximum, from October 1997 to March 2007. Shลnen Gahosha republished the Trigun chapters in two volumes, and gathered the Trigun Maximum chapters in fourteen volumes.
Set on the imaginary planet known as No Manโ€™s Land, the plot follows Vash the Stampede, a renowned gunman who is continually battling bounty hunters trying to get the monstrous bounty on his head. As the story advances, Vashโ€™s past is investigated. Trigun started from Nightowโ€™s interest with Western motion pictures. Nightow maintained that Vash should be unique in relation to cowpokes in Western motion pictures by abstaining from killing foes and on second thought investigating the characters associated with every story arc.
Trigun was adjusted into a 26 episode anime TV series by the successful animation studio Madhouse. It broadcasted on TV Tokyo from April to September 1998. An anime film, Trigun: Badlands Rumble, debuted in Japan in April 2010.
