A collective effort with Webtoon, SIU’s long-running Korean webcomic Tower of God officially appeared its huge anime trip and is now a hit with fans. Alongside the anime’s huge world, a wide cast of characters with nutty characters, and riddle, a lot of what fans have come to adore is the score given by Kevin Penkin.

(Speaking with “Crunchyroll” about the music production for Tower of God, check out the full interview here)

Penkin referenced how chipping away at the music for the arrangement feels like a finish of ten years of work, “There are several things that truly stood apart to me about this venture. I’ve never gotten the opportunity to extend my legs in an incredible same innovative way I had the option to here.

I have an inclination that I’ve been equipping to compose this music for a long time. From teaming up with old buddies, to serious string accounts in the Dvorak Hall, it was an extremely transformative encounter.”

When inquired as to whether he had looked into the first webcomic before chipping away at the music for the Tower of God adjustment, Penkin conversed with Crunchyroll about the measure of research he did when thinking of the music for the arrangement: I got a lot of the reading material ahead of time, similar to Made in Abyss. I felt it was really important to establish the world, not just the characters. This was also my first manhwa. So trying to find a sound that truly represented what a unique world and art style SIU created was really important to me.

Penkin even separated a great deal of the styles and motivations coming into the anime, The first couple of tracks I wrote covered some fun combinations such as harps with Dubstep wubs or Bulgarian choirs with Drum & Bass. What I found worked really well for the Tower of God was aggressive and sudden changes in texture or style.

A short synopsis for the series:

“Reach the top, and everything will be yours. At the top of the tower exists everything in this world, and all of it can be yours. You can become a god. This is the story of the beginning and the end of Rachel, the girl who climbed the tower so she could see the stars, and Bam, the boy who needed nothing but her.”

Tower of God is a webtoon composed and drawn by Lee Jong-hui additionally known by the nom de plume SIU launched the manhwa (comics) on NAVER WEBTOON in 2010. WEBTOONS launched the manhwa in English in July 2014.
