The Gojo’s Past arc from the original manga series is currently being covered by Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, and the most recent episode of the season fully introduced Toji Fushiguro to the anime.

With the new season of Jujutsu Kaisen beginning with its first few episodes adapting the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death arcs from Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga, fans can expect to see some major characters make their debuts as well as younger versions of earlier favorites like Satoru Gojo. Toji was one of the major new arrivals that fans had been eagerly anticipating.

Toji Fushiguro first appeared in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime at the very end of the Season 2 premiere as he was hired for a new mission that Gojo and Suguru Geto are now on opposite sides of. However, Episode 2 fully integrates him into the anime as he starts his plot to scout out his opponents and is currently preparing for his own jump into the action by displaying the devil may care attitude that made him such a fan favorite in the original manga. Now all that remains is to witness him in action.

It is revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 2 that Toji is the one who hired a group of mercenaries to make their move on Riku Amanai, the guy Gojo and Geto are currently tasked with defending. Toji is completely introduced as he unwinds at the racing track. While Gojo and Geto easily defeat each of their unexpected foes in this episode, Toji is always seen controlling events while waiting for the ideal moment to strike. Given his extensive knowledge of Gojo’s lethal prowess, it is obvious that he is approaching the assignment cautiously before fully committing.

Toji is an odd mercenary in and of himself, having broken ties with the Zenin Clan, but he has also chosen to adopt the name Fushiguro, which further links him to Megumi. The anime makes it plain that Megumi doesn’t mean much to Toji because the mercenary doesn’t really acknowledge the name when questioned about Megumi in general.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode 3 will premiere on July 20, 2023.
