The Culling Game has entered its next significant stage in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen series, and the most recent installment exposed the significant con that Kenjaku had been working towards with the deadly competition.
The most recent chapters of the series have instead been updating fans on what is happening outside of the competition as Kenjaku has been making odd maneuvers after the series’ main protagonist Yuji Itadori and the rest of his team’s initial slate of fights around the Culling Game colonies. Although he had been seen enlisting American soldiers into the deadly competition, the television show has yet to explain the villain’s motivation.
The earlier manga chapters showed Kenjaku making significant strides toward the realization of his true goal as he fought Tengen and those standing up for him. However, now that the US military has entered the Culling Game colonies, things have only become rougher. It quickly becomes clear that Kenjaku’s scheme was to inflate the tournament’s enrollment in order to produce as much Cursed Energy as possible.
Jujutsu Kaisen manga’s most recent chapter which is the 209th one describes how American soldiers break into the Culling Game colonies and begin killing any sorcerers they come across. They have great faith in their ability to defeat the so-called psychics, but it quickly becomes clear that the Cursed Spirits are the real threat to the troops, as they have begun to spread throughout the colonies and are attacking them one by one.
Despite the influx of non-sorcerers, Kenjaku claims that even a non-sorcerer from outside of Japan will experience such tremendous stress at the moment of death that it will temporarily alter their brains and produce the crucial Cursed Energy he needs.
He notes that some of the colonies are lacking in energy, so this influx of new fatalities will undoubtedly help to raise it and get the Culling Game’s overall end plan closer to launch.
