The first primary character of the series, Ai Hoshino from Oshi no Ko, was introduced, but it was made clear by the end of the cinematic 90-minute first episode that she would not be the one we would follow for the duration of the rest of the run.
But Ai Hoshino had a big impact on followers, particularly thanks to some cosplay by Enako, a Japanese artist with one of the biggest fan bases, who shared her interpretation of the now-famous pop star with admirers on Instagram.

Japanese manga series Oshi no Ko was created by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. Since April 2020, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump, and as of March 2023, its chapters have been compiled in 11 tankbon volumes. It has been concurrently published by Shueisha on their Manga Plus website and licensed for release by Yen Press in North America.
