The original Sun Breather, who served as the model for the entire system of breathing techniques that give the titular Demon Slayer fighters their power, has finally been given the official best look yet in Demon Slayer Season 3.
The Demon Slayer anime has long suggested the existence of The Original Sun Breather, whether directly or through weird digressions like flashbacks or visions. Now that we’re seeing him as a real guy in Season 3, we’re getting to understand more about this crucial character.
Tanjiro Kamado is still recovering from his wounds following the epic battle with Upper Ranks Six demon Gyutaro and his sister Daki in the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer Season 3. Tanjiro receives a vision from one of his ancestors during his rejuvenating sleep of a man who is seen to have been friends with the Original Sun Breathing user. This plotline has another twist at the end of the episode when Tanjiro runs into the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito, who is accompanied by a person that resembles the Original Sun Breather that Tanjiro imagined.
The closest connection we have between Tanjiro’s family, their Hinokami Kagura dance, and the Sun Breathing technique Shinjuro Rengoku mentioned in the Mugen Train Arc is the vision that Tanjiro has.
The anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
