The most recent Demon Slayer season 3 episode delves into the past and explains why Genya and Sanemi Shinazugawa are so estranged from one another by exploring their childhood trauma.
The 3rd season of the series is currently working through the major battles of the Swordsmith Village arc. After making their debut in Demon Slayer season 1, some well-known fighters have returned for Season 3. The series’ main protagonist Tanjiro has received some unexpected assistance from these fighters as they take on strong members of Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Ranks in turn.
After a tense first reunion in the previous episodes, Tanjiro and Genya have suddenly partnered up once more, and Genya has begun to warm up to Tanjiro. In addition to continuing to battle Hantengu’s Emotion Demons, Genya has also provided further information regarding the motivation behind his war. The most recent episode of Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc moves this along by examining Genya’s shared past with his brother and illuminating the tragic bond that led to their divergent pasts.
Genya and Tanjiro collaborate to fight Hantengu in Demon Slayer season 3 anime’s most recent episode which is the 6th one, but when Hantengu is on the verge of death, Genya begins to reflect on his history. It is made clear that his first concern at this time is about his brother and the critical error that Genya made, which ultimately caused the two of them to grow apart. Genya appears to hold himself responsible for this because of what happened to their family because it has been implied that the Wind Hashira Sanemi does not actually claim Genya as his brother.
A flashback uncovers that once Genya and Sanemi’s mother was transformed into a demon, she murdered the rest of their siblings. Sanemi managed to halt the assault, but it wasn’t until the sun rose that he realized he had slain his mother. Genya understands the error of first holding his brother responsible for what occurred and is aware that neither of them had any control over it.
