Denji engaged in one of his deadliest fights to date at the end of Chainsaw Man‘s first season, employing all of his skills to finally defeat the Katana Man. The Chainsaw Devil, fortunately, has a new trick that helped save his life and improve his future. Despite animation studio MAPPA’s lack of confirmation that a second season is in the works, given how well-liked the anime series is, Denji’s return seems certain.

In addition to having chainsaw blades shoot out of his head and arms, Denji’s fusion with his pet dog Pochita also gave him the ability to sustain extreme levels of damage, making him nearly indestructible. If Denji can swallow blood, he can fast heal from whatever injuries he sustains, which is regrettably a similar ability to Katana Man’s. Denji’s heart was replaced by Pochita, and the Katana Man experienced a similar fate, creating a sinister mirror image of the Shonen protagonist. During their battle, Denji outperformed the adversary thanks to a skill that the fiend lacked.

The Katana Man cuts off Denji’s arms and the blade protruding from his head during their fight inside a subway car. Denji is able to slash the Chainsaw Devil straight through the center using his legs, which makes for a most unexpected ending to the fight. Fortunately for the Chainsaw Devil, he has more blades at his disposal.

Although Studio MAPPA has not yet officially announced that a second season of Chainsaw Man is in the works, given the success of its anime adaptation and the abundance of unadapted manga, it is safe to assume that Denji and his fellow devil hunters will soon be making a comeback to television.
