The most recent chapter has made a significant leap into the future with the coronation of a new Witch Queen as Black Clover prepares for the decisive battles for the destiny of the Clover Kingdom in the manga’s final arc.
The Magic Knights have been fighting Lucius Zogratis and his advancing Paladins, but things have finally started to turn back in the Clover Kingdom’s favor as the last arc of Black Clover prepares for its next significant phase. Asta has returned to the Clover Kingdom and is launching himself into battle as a result of the Black Bulls’ efforts.
Vanessa Enoteca had asked her mother, the Witch Queen, for assistance in the Witches’ Forest during a special ritual that would hasten Asta’s return from the Land of the Sun. As a result of their valiant efforts and risk to their own lives, the Black Bulls were able to teleport Asta to their side. The Witch Queen, however, transfers her throne to Captain Dorothy Unsworth of the Coral Peacock after expending all of her remaining magic to spare them all from certain death.
After Damnatio was eliminated by Asta using his new Zetten technique in a single action and the Witch Queen had certified that Nero’s sealing power had been able to prevent the Black Bulls from losing their lives entirely, Black Clover Chapter 367 picks up. But as the Witch Queen uses her magic to heal the squad, she admits that it will use up all of her remaining strength. She offers Vanessa the position of Witch Queen in her absence, but Dorothy steps up to take it.
Dorothy aspires to become the new Witch Queen because she’s done much in her teens and twenties, suggesting that Vanessa still has a lot to accomplish with her life. It was previously revealed that Dorothy had also previously left the Witches Forest, much like Vanessa did. And it proves to be more true than ever when Asta quickly uses his anti-magic ability to empower Vanessa and the other Black Bulls for the upcoming final fights.
Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King anime film premiered on June 16, 2023 on Netflix.
