The decisive fights for the future of the Clover Kingdom have begun with Black Clover, and the most recent installment of the book series explored Noelle Silva’s emotional response to Asta’s devastating defeat at the beginning of it all.

Lucius Zogratis, the last Zogratis sibling and the series’ overall villain, made his first move on the Clover Kingdom and promptly defeated Asta, kicking off the final arc of Yuki Tabata’s original Black Clover manga series. Lucius Zogratis’ immense power was also fully revealed.

The Clover Kingdom has been occupied since Asta’s defeat and apparent death at the hands of Lucius at the conclusion of the fight. The Black Bulls, however, reacted to Asta’s probable demise in a very different way. Like Noelle, who, in the most recent chapter of Black Clover, shows signs of being heartbroken over Asta’s passing before quickly revealing that her faith in him is stronger than ever.

During the battles against the Dark Triad, Black Clover made some significant progress between Noelle and Asta, and the stress of those battles assisted Noelle in realizing that, despite her denials, she genuinely harbors romantic feelings for Asta. Whether Asta feels the same way is still unknown, but it is evident from Black Clover chapter 359 that Noelle still holds Asta in high respect because she can’t help but be heartbroken by his death.

In a flashback, it’s shown that Noelle cried a lot after losing Asta and that she was powerless to stop Lucius when he first attacked. Noelle continues nonetheless because she won’t accept Asta’s death. She wipes away her tears and promises to stand in for Asta in protecting the Clover Kingdom and preparing it for his eventual return. Noelle’s love and faith for Asta have equipped her for her decisive battle, and in the process, she has gained some enormous new powers.
